(Indianapolis, Ind.) – Dust off your fishing gear, and get ready for four free fishing days!

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources announced yesterday that they will be hosting free fishing days for Indiana residents. On these days, residents are able to fish in the state’s public waters without needing a license or trout/salmon stamps.  All other rules such as seasons, bag and size limits still apply.

This year the free fishing days are on May 2, June 5 & 6, and September 25.

These fishing days are an excellent opportunity to learn how to fish, take youth fishing, or introduce a friend to fishing. DNR is also offering instruction for learning more about fishing, finding places to fish close to home, and teaching new anglers through their Learn to Fish Program.

Learn to Fish workshops are hosted around the state throughout the year. On Free Fishing Days, these workshops allow individuals new to fishing to learn without purchasing a license.
