New report shows the immense impact of the college’s students, alumni and operations.

MADISON, Ind. — Ivy Tech Community College Madison’s impact on the region adds more than $11 million in income through its students, alumni, and operations. One out of every 76 jobs in the service area is supported by the activities of the Madison campus and its students.
The overall impact of Ivy Tech was cited in a new report on the economic value of the College, as measured during Fiscal Year 2024-2025 by Lightcast. The report found that the Madison campus adds more than $11 million in income through its students, alumni, and operations. The average Ivy Tech Madison associate degree will see an annual earning of $11,000 higher than a person with a high school diploma or equivalent.
“Ivy Tech is a major thought partner in our community, and now this report shows that we’re also a major economic impact,” said Dr. Amanda Harsin, Chancellor of Ivy Tech Community College Madison. “We’re proud to help our students and workforce partners grow, adapt, and thrive.”
Students can get a return of $5.10 for every dollar spent by being able to earn more in their lifetime, estimated to be $410,700.
The social benefits of Ivy Tech Madison has a 10:1 benefit-cost ratio. In other words, for every dollar invested in Ivy Tech Madison, people in Indiana will receive a cumulative value of $10 in benefits.
“We know that more education and skills lead to better and higher-paying jobs, and that is a key mission for Ivy Tech as Indiana’s workforce engine,” Ivy Tech President Marty Pollio said.
