(Jefferson County, Ind.) - The Jefferson County Fair Board announced today, May 20, that they have made the decision to cancel the 2020 Jefferson County 4H Fair.

After studying the requirements to safely hold in-person 4H events, the economic realities of the livestock industry, and the uncertainty of the current pandemic, they deem it necessary to cancel, the fair which was scheduled for July 10 through July 17.

“This was an extremely difficult decision due to the impact it has on our youth and community. 4H in Jefferson County has had tremendous support and success over the years. We hate that our youth will not be able to have an on-site event this year. We are also sad for the non-profits, merchants, and community that look forward to the fair and have supported us over the years. We look forward to seeing everyone at the 2021 Jefferson County 4H Fair,” stated the board.

The Purdue Extension Office is working with fair volunteers to move the 4H programs to a virtual format.
