Jefferson Co. Unemployment Rate Drops For The 3rd Month In A Row

Jefferson County was ranked 28th for unemployment percentage out of all 92 Indiana counties.

(Indianapolis, Ind.) – August unemployment numbers by county were released today by the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.

Jefferson County has now seen a decrease in unemployment numbers for three months in a row.

For August, Jefferson County’s unemployment rate came in at 6.0 percent, which is a 1.7 percent decrease from the month of July. Since the month of June 4.4 percent decrease in unemployment within the county.  

Jefferson County was ranked 28th for unemployment percentage out of all 92 Indiana counties and has a lower percentage rate than that of the state which is 6.5 percent.

As for the neighboring counties, Scott County was ranked 13th with 6.8 percent, Switzerland County was ranked 21st with 6.3 percent, Jennings County was ranked 44th with 5.6 percent, and Ripley was ranked 63rf with 5.0 percent.
