Kentucky State Police Post 5 Investigates Fatal Collsion

Crash remains under investigation

                                       

On November 13, 2023 at approximately 7:50 am Kentucky State Police Post 5 in Campbellsburg received a 911 call in reference to a single vehicle collision on Old Monterey Road in Owen County. 

Preliminary investigation indicates a silver Jeep being operated by Chase Downs, 34 year old male of Flatwoods KY, was traveling north on Old Monterey Road.  The Jeep left the roadway and struck multiple trees after failing to properly negotiate a curve.

Mr. Downs was pronounced deceased on scene by the Owen County Coroner.  Next of kin has been notified. 

This is an ongoing investigation being conducted by Kentucky State Police Post 5.
