(Frankfort, KY.) - Governor Andy Beshear announced Sunday that there have been 45 new cases of coronavirus, bring the total to 439 statewide.

This number is the lowest number in four days and less than half of the 92 cases reported Saturday.

Still, he warned, “The next two weeks are absolutely critical. We are in the surge and we’re going to have more cases. We are going to have more cases each and every day and we ought to be prepared for it. We’re going to lose more people, and that’s going to be hard, but we have to know that is coming.”

During his briefing, Gov. Beshear spoke on the changing of weather stating that residents must avoid crowds due to the coronavirus pandemic, including those who are golfing or exercising.

While golf courses are allowed to be open, Beshear threatened to shut down those where large groups repeatedly gather.

“We don’t want to have to do this,” he said. “It forces us to take action. I’m not doing this to be mean.”

Beshear also asked joggers to only go out with members of their families since group jogging leads to socializing.

Beshear also said that his administration is looking into numerous reports about crowded stores, including home improvement businesses.

“We’re going to have to ask those stores to find a way to enforce social distancing or we’re going to see how essential they are,” he said.

Most people who have COVID-19 have mild or moderate symptoms, which can include fever and cough but also milder cases of pneumonia, which sometimes requires hospitalization. The rise of death is greater for older adults and people with other health problems.
