(Madison, Ind.) - Lide White Boys and Girls Club will be open during the Jefferson County schools shutdown and previously scheduled Spring Break.

Boys and Girls Club stated that they have protocols in place that will help reduce risk such as checking temperatures at the door, mid-day, and if a child appears ill, which would result in removing them from the program.

They are also ensuring that children will wash their hands with soap and water throughout the day, and they will also provide hand sanitizer for their use. The facility will also be cleaned and disinfect during the day and thoroughly cleaned nightly.

They will open to the first 75 kids and have a waitlist as they have staff available and will not per the Governor exceed 250 kids should they hit that threshold.

The club is also said that that they are doing everything possible to keep your children and their staff protected from the spread of COVID-19. They are also closely monitoring reports from the CDC and local hospitals for all updated information.

“We are also closely monitoring reports from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and our local hospital for all updated information. Currently, there is no evidence that children are more susceptible. We want to remind our families that for the more than 65 years, Lide White Boys & Girls Club has acted as a beacon of hope for the community. Our Clubs have always been a safe-haven for youth. Even if your child does not need the Club at this time, we hope you will see this as an investment in our kids and our community,” stated the club.

Club members and non-members are eligible for childcare.
