Jennings Co. Sheriff's Office and North Vernon Police made the lifesaving effort on August 4
(Jennings County, Ind.) - Lifesaving measures were successful on August 4 in Spencer Township.
Deputies with the Jennings County Sheriff's Office and officers with the North Vernon Police Department responded to a residence after receiving a report of a male who was choking and turning blue.
Officer Chris Allen of the North Vernon Police officer arrived first, followed shortly by Jennings County Sheriff's Deputy Owen Miller and Sgt. Drew Heilers. Upon arrival, first responders quickly assessed the situation and utilized a LifeVac device, which had been provided through the Jennings County Health Department.
The LifeVac successfully removed the lodged object from the man's airway, allowing him to begin breathing again. The coordinated efforts and quick actions of the responding officers and deputies were instrumental in saving the individual's life.
"The Jennings County Sheriff's Office would like to recognize the professionalism and teamwork displayed by all first responders involved. We also extend our appreciation to the Jennings County Health Department for providing LifeVac devices to local public safety agencies. This incident demonstrates the importance of having lifesaving equipment readily available and the value of training in its use," reads a statement from the Jennings County Sheriff's Office.
