(Madison, Ind.) – During the month of August, the Madison Area Arts Alliance (MAAA) passed the halfway point in crowdfunding efforts for the Kindness Mural and the SPOT.

Over $17,100 from 78 donors was collected by the end of the month to go towards the goal of $26,500.

The Kindness Mural is a 180-foot mural, that will be located at the corner of Mulberry and Second streets in downtown Madison.

“The mural will depict a river theme, highlighting a series of positive words and affirmations with an overall declaration of the communities' commitment to inclusiveness and kindness,” said the Arts Alliance.

The campaign launched on August 14, with MAAA participating in the CreatINg Places grant program that is offered through the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA).

If the goal is reached by October 16, the IHCDA will match each donation dollar for dollar.

Additionally, the project includes the development of The SPOT(Supporting People of Talent), this will be a place for creative community members to meet and create.

To learn more about the project, or if you would like to donate you can go to www.patronicity.com/project/kindness or contact MAAA at (812) 801-9863.
