I'm "SUGAR",
I'm a sweet & friendly girl who is hoping that I will be adopted now that spring is coming.
I'm looking forward to long walks and playing outside.
I have a lot of energy and need lots of exercise, walks, or playtime.
Pretend that I'm a puppy and then treat me like one even though I'm an adult Labrador Retriever mix.
I need basic to walk nicely on leash, not jumping on people, sit, stay, etc.
Stock up on the treats! They really get my attention.
I like both cats and other dogs.
However, the staff has found that I resource guard and they are working with me on that.
That means I don't like anyone near my food or toys.
It's something that started here at the shelter, so hopefully it will be easy to correct when I'm home.
Ask the staff for updates and details on how to manage it and work with me to correct it.
I'm 2- to 3-years-old, weigh 41 lbs, and was found with Spice.
I'm mostly black, but have a white goatee, white tips on my toes, and of course the Labrador white patch on my chest.
I'm $30 off my adoption & spay fees to help me get a home.
Being at the shelter in the winter is no fun. I want a cozy home and family to love.

I'm energetic and need someone who will take me outside for walks or runs. I enjoy having lots of play time.
I'm learning lots of new things here.
The staff has especially helped me learn to sit and not to jump up on people.
But sometimes I just get so excited to see you and forget what I've learned!
I'm very treat-oriented, so give me treats when you continue my training at home.
I like both cats and other dogs.
I am, however, cautious of some men that walk past my kennel.
I was found with Sugar.
I'm a 2- to 3-year-old, Shepherd mix who weighs 49 lbs. and has a bobbed tail now.
I'm tan with the Shepherd black on my muzzle and around my eyes.

Foster homes are needed! The shelter is accepting applications to foster dogs and cats who are either pregnant/nursing, being treated for heartworm, or are recovering from other illness/injury and are not currently adoptable. 
The shelter does not use foster homes for animals who are currently healthy and adoptable or who are on their stray hold as they need to be at the shelter for the public to meet/adopt/reclaim.
If interested, please be aware that any animal already in the foster home must be up-to-date on vaccinations and spayed or neutered. A home inspection will be completed by shelter staff and everyone in the foster home must agree to shelter guidelines.
The shelter pays for medical care and will supply food.
Applications can be picked up during business hours.

Cats and kittens are $45 oftheir adoption and spay/neuter fees courtesy of the shelter and the Jefferson County Humane SocietyCats who are already neutered or spayed are $45 and not part of the special.
The shelter is closed on Sundays until further notice and apologizes for any inconvenience.

    The City of Madison Parks and Recreation Department is once again offering early bird single pool passes for Crystal Beach. The passes are $40 each March 1 through May 24.   • Park Hop

    A community wide scavenger hunt. Visit as many parks as you can during the month of March, and have fun exploring Jefferson County's parks and nature preserves as you go. To get started, download your Park Hop Passport. It lists the parks and nature preserves, and the clues for each one. Prizes available for youth (ages 18 and under) that complete all clues at 1,5, or 10 parks. Submitting all clues for more than 10 parks will enter youth into the grand prize drawing. Families can have fun and claim kids' prizes at our Park Hop Celebration on April 6th, from 1-2 pm at Heritage Park.
