Jolene and Genie

"JOLENE"--Black & Tan Coonhound
3-5 years   Female 51 lbs.
**UPDATED: I went for an overnight hunting run with a shelter staff member who used to be an avid Coon Hunter and still runs her dogs as hobby only.
This is what she discovered:
I was redirected to a raccoon scent through a trap, I did very well and showed much drive. After this, I seemed to remember the difference between cat scent and raccoon (they are very similar in smell)
The barn cats didn't seem to attract my attention after that. I probably shouldn't be around them, though, if you do not plan to hunt with me.
I was set free on a fenced 40 acres and treed 3 raccoons and 1 mystery critter through the night. The animal could have jumped to a surrounding tree . I do have the will and drive to hunt in me, but will need more scent training so I remember what you want me to do. I was running on my own before I was picked up by ACO and my nose must have got the best of me. Before you set me loose, please practice with me in a fenced area or on a long lead with trapped raccoons placed around the area.
For any detailed info, please ask Shelter Staff about me being used to track/hunt again.
I am very active and will need to be walked a lot or have a fenced backyard if you choose to have me as a pet only
I'm a nice girl who needs an outdoor home.
I don't like to be fenced in kennel. If you leave me in a kennel, I'll grab the metal with my teeth and pull.
I need a home without other pets if you don't plan to redirect me.
I might be okay with female dogs of my size.
Because I was an outdoor dog, I am not potty-trained and would be best placed in a great outdoor home or hunting home.

 I have a $30.00 Sponsorship

"GENIE" - Spayed
1-3 yrs   Female 5 lbs
I was a trapped cat who came to the shelter a total mess and Very matted.
I have come a long way though and despite my odd haircut from getting my mats out, I am such a sweet cat who LOVES to be held and carried. Cuddles are the best! my coat with grown out and be beautiful again so do not worry. Daily combing and grooming visits once a month would be ideal to help me maintain a healthy pain free coat. I am Spayed and Up to Date on my Rabies Vaccination and only $45.00 to adopt.
