Madison man facing multiple alleged neglect charges

Pruitt faces multiple alleged neglect charges following investigation at Madison hotel

March 5, 2020, @ approximately 7:30AM Madison Police responded to the Best Way Inn reference abandoned children.  The investigation, led by Captain D.J. Stephan and Patrolman Cameron Blankenship, revealed three children, ages 5 and under, were left alone in a hotel room for approximately seven hours.  

 

The boyfriend of the children's mother, Auktavian Pruitt age 30, Madison, IN, was left in charge of the children, while the mother worked.  Following the investigation, Pruitt was taken into custody at approximately 9:00 AM, without incident.  

 

Auktavian Pruitt was transported to the Jefferson County jail where he faces three preliminary alleged charges of NEGLECT OF A DEPENDANT level 6 felony.  During the booking process at the Jefferson County Jail, Pruitt was found to be in possession of methamphetamine, and will face an additional level 6 possession charge.  All charges are alleged and Auktavian Pruitt has the presumption of innocence until proven guilty.
