Madison Woman Arrested For Knowledge Of Child Abuse

On July 24, 2021, Madison Police arrested Dalton L. Duncil 28, Madison,Indiana, after an investigation into child abuse allegations.  Duncil, still incarcerated in the Jefferson County Jail, was charged with battery to a child resulting in serious bodily injury L-3 felony and neglect of a dependent / child L-3 felony.  The victim is 1 1/2 years of age, and is Duncil's step-son.  The allegations contend the injuries occurred while the child was in Duncil's care.

On August 9, 2021, Madison Police Detectives Jeremey Perkins and Shawn Scudder arrested Alaina M. Duncil, 31, Madison, Indiana.  Alaina Duncil is the mother of the victim and has been charged with neglect of a dependent L-3 felony.  The investigation, led by Detective Perkins, contends Alaina Duncil was aware of the child abuse being committed by her husband Dalton, and failed to take any action to prevent it.  

Alaina Duncil was arrested at her West Fourth Street residence, where the child battery was alleged to have occured.  Duncil's bond was set at $50,000.00 (Fifty) thousand cash only.  The charges filed against Alaina Duncil and the previous charges filed against Dalton Duncil are alleged.  Both Alaina and Dalton have the presumption of innocence until otherwise proven guilty.
