Investigation on going since March

In March 2019 Detective Kyle Cutshaw, Detective Ricky Harris, and Sr. Patrolman Aaron Watson initiated an investigation of Roma J. “Sissy” Wynn, age 40 of Madison, after receiving information identifying Wynn as a source of methamphetamine in Jefferson County. Throughout the month of March, Detectives and Sr. Patrolman Watson conducted several controlled methamphetamine purchases from Wynn. During one of the controlled methamphetamine purchases, a firearm was purchased from Wynn as well.

On April 21, 2019, Patrolman Brittany Tate initiated a traffic stop in the 200 block of Jefferson Street for a traffic infraction. Scott M. Doty, age 39 of Aurora, was identified as the driver of the vehicle and Wynn was identified as a passenger. During the course of the traffic stop, Patrolman Brad Demaree and his K-9 partner Champi arrived on scene to assist. After having Champi conduct an open-air sniff of the vehicle, which yielded a positive alert, a subsequent search was conducted. During the search of the vehicle officers located methamphetamine on Doty’s seat, as well as a loaded handgun underneath of Doty’s seat. Officers located a burnt marijuana joint where Wynn had been sitting in the vehicle. During the search of Wynn’s person, Officer Tate located approximately 11 grams of methamphetamine that was divided into several individual bags; as well as several different types of controlled substances. Both Wynn and Doty were arrested and transported to the Jefferson County Jail. Sergeant Shawn Scudder, Sr. Patrolman Watson, and Patrolman Chad Wehner also assisted Patrolman Tate in the investigation.

After the culmination of both investigations, the following charges were filed against Wynn in the Jefferson Circuit Court. Wynn is currently housed at the Jefferson County Jail and was given a $250,000 bond.
