Madison, IN— Mayor Bob Courtney announced today the members appointed to the newly established city Golf Board. The Golf Board was established during the Parks and Recreation Board public meeting on June 7th and will work with the Golf Professional to institute policies and directives for the day-to-day operations of Sunrise Golf Course as well as establish strategies to expand the sport of golf locally. “The formation of this board provides the city Parks and Recreation Board the opportunity to refocus their attention on the many assets and programs in our parks department while still ensuring our new Golf Professional has a support system for advice and new ideas,” said Mayor Bob Courtney. The four-member board will serve as a liaison between the citizens of Madison and the Parks Recreation Board. They will advise and support the city Golf Professional and will work with him to market Sunrise Golf Course and expand on the course’s offerings. The members named to the City of Madison Golf Board are Zach Laughlin, serving as the Parks Board representative, Kenton Williams, Kathy Crafton, and Karl Eaglin, representing the golf community. “Sunrise Golf Course is a special place and an important recreational asset to our community. I look forward to working alongside the other members of the board to advance golf in Madison for current and future golfers,” said Kenton Williams. The Golf Board will hold an organizational meeting after Roger Gallatin, Jr., the new Golf Professional, joins the city staff on June 20th .
