                                      JEFFERSON COUNTY SHERIFF BEN FLINT

On February 19, 2023, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office was made aware of a runaway juvenile who may have been traveling to Jefferson County.

The 14-year-old was reported missing from Colorado Springs, Colorado. She had ties to a non-family acquaintance in Jefferson County.

On March 27, 2023, the Sheriff's Office had received additional information due to a joint ongoing investigation with Colorado Springs Police Department.

That information led Deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office to the Deputy, Indiana area. After Deputies received additional information at that location, they redirected their efforts to the Hanover, In area.  This is where Jefferson County Deputies and Hanover Police Officer Gibson were able to locate the missing juvenile and her acquaintance. The Two juveniles  were located on Carmel Road near West State Road 56.

When they saw law enforcement they attempted to conceal themselves in a woodline. The area was searched with the assistance of Jefferson County Sheriff's Department K-9 Kuno and his handler Chief Deputy Laura Pickel. Both juveniles were located in the woods safely with no further issues.  The missing Teen from Colorado is being held until officials from Colorado take custody.
