Multi-Agency Investigation Leads To The Arrest Of Four North Vernon Residents

(Jennings County, Ind.) – On March 2, detectives with the Jennings County Sheriff’s Office along with the Indiana State Police ACP unit began an investigation into three people who were wanted on various arrest warrants from Jennings and Jefferson Counties.

49-year-old Michael D. Brown was first arrested at a location in Seymour, on a Jefferson County warrant for failure to register as a sex offender (level 6 felony) with a bond set at $10,000.

The investigation continued and on March 4, Breanna Howell, 20, was taken into custody in North Vernon for two counts of possession of a syringe (level 6 felony) with a bond set at $1,055.

Throughout the evening, investigators followed leads which eventually led to the arrest of two more wanted persons in North Vernon.

Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office, Indiana State Police, and North Vernon Police Department went to a residence in North Vernon where they located Shawn Kuhlman and Melissa Brown, both wanted on warrants out of Jennings County.

During the search of the residence, Brown was located hiding inside of a wall and Kuhlman was found hiding under a dresser and fought officers during his apprehension.

Melissa Brown, 47, was arrested on three Jennings County misdemeanor warrants and new charges for resisting law enforcement (class a misdemeanor), and escape (level 5 felony). Brown is being held in the Jennings County Jail on four separate bonds of $1055.00, $2055.00, $2055.00, and $2055.00.

Shawn Kuhlman, 35 was arrested on two Jennings County felony warrants and new charges of two counts of battery on a law enforcement officer (level 6 felony), possession of methamphetamine (level 6 felony), possession of paraphernalia (class a misdemeanor), escape (level 5 felony), trafficking with an inmate, (level 5 felony) and resisting law enforcement, (class a misdemeanor).  Kuhlman is currently being held in the Jennings County Jail on four separate bonds of $6255.00, $2605.00, $2605.00, and $1055.00.
