(Gallatin County, Ky.) - It has been one year since Markland Dam workers found a man's body in the Ohio River, Gallatin County Coroner Ken Lafferty is still trying to identify just who that man is.

On February 22, 2019, the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Department pulled a man from the river but was unable to identify him due to the few details given about his identity.

The man appeared to be between 60 to 70 years old, weighed 240 pounds, and was around 5’11”. He had a grey and white beard with a partially bald head. The only clothing that was found on his body was a white sock and navy-blue slip-on shoe.

Without any luck on finding who the man is, Fox19-NOW reports, the community decided to give the unidentified man a burial next to Paint Lick Baptist Church in Warsaw, Ky.

The grave marker reads, “Unknown White Male. Found at Markland Dam, February 22, 2019.”

Lafferty decided to contact the National Missing and Unidentified person system to get a DNA profile made for the man. Lafferty now hopes with the DNA submitted that this man’s identity can finally be known.

If you have any information or know who the man is, please call the Gallatin County Coroner’s office at 859-655-5741.
