(Trimble County, Ind.) - It was a busy day today in the Trimble County Courthouse with multiple cases being discussed.

The first to appear before the judges was Anthony Howell.

Howell was arrested on February 13, on the charges of first- degree domestic violence assault after shooting his wife twice.

While in court Howell’s attorney asked the judge on behalf of Howell and his wife if the court would be able to remove the no contact order placed on him so that he could see his wife.

The judge denied the request stating that it was a preliminary hearing, and that would have to be brought back up in the next hearing which will be held on March 3, 2020, at 10:00 a.m.

Howell’s wife was also present in the courtroom as well.

Following Howell’s case former Trimble County instructional assistant, Alexandra Lawhorn.

Lawhorn was charged with two counts of engaging in an unlawful transaction with a minor and two counts of tampering with physical evidence following an investigation on January 27.

Detective Dave Roberts, with the Kentucky State Police, stated today that when interviewing Lawhorn she denied that she had a relationship with a student, she did, however, say that she went to the 17-year-olds house to purchase marijuana but instead ended up vaping THC with 17-year-old along with another minor.

Lawhorn also admitted to tampering with physical evidence by telling the minor to delete the text on his phone over the cell phone application Snapchat, which is used for taking pictures and sending messages which disappear after viewing them.

During his statement, Detective Roberts also stated that she had admitted to sending partially nude photos to the 17-year-old as well.

Lawhorn’s attorney argued, “if there is nothing wrong then you are free to delete your text, so at this point, there is no probable cause with tampering with evidence.”

To which the state attorney said,

“She destroyed evidence on both phones, so obviously there is something that she didn’t want people to see.”

The judge then decided to move Lawhorn’s case to the Grand Jury with the date to be determined.
