(Scott County) - On today's date (03/13/2020) Scott County Deputy John Hartman received a tip that Franklin Gomar, 39 years old from Denver, CO, (and other places), was staying at a residence located at 5591 East Kinderhook Road, Scottsburg. This residence is a Scottsburg mail address but is located in rural southern Scott County. Franklin Gomar was a wanted fugitive from St. Louis County, MO for Failure to Appear on a Dangerous Drugs Charge.

As officers were executing the search warrant looking for Franklin Gomar, he exited out of the rear of the home abandoning his six-month-old and three-year-old children. Officers pursued Franklin Gomar and as they were catching up to him outside in the rear of the home, he threw out two cellular telephones and surrendered.  Franklin Gomar was found to be in possession of a loaded handgun with extra magazines on his person.

Officers applied for and received another search warrant to look for more weapons in the home due to the fact he was not allowed to possess weapons as a convicted felon. During this search, officers located a stolen AR 15 Rifle. The rifle was reported stolen from the Louisville Metro Police Department approximately a year ago. Officers also located a counterfeit drug substance, drug paraphernalia, and ammunition.

Franklin Gomar was arrested for the Out of State Felony Arrest Warrant and he was also arrested on the Scott County Charges of; Serious Violent Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Child Neglect, Possession of Stolen Property, Resisting Law Enforcement and Failure to Register as a Sex Offender. He was incarcerated at the Scott County Jail.
