Exchanging worthless jewelry for cash

Police in Scottsburg, Indiana are warning residents of a possible scam.

According to a Facebook post, police say a man and woman driving a Chevy Malibu have been exchanging jewelry for money to be used as gas.

They tell targets they’re from out of town and need gas.

Victims are led to believe the jewelry they possess is valuable, but police say it’s not.

The department is looking for any information that can lead to the identification of the suspects.
