This is a voluntary program that benefits all member co-ops.

(undated) – Southeastern Indiana REMC is encouraging members to reduce their energy usage during peak demand periods with their "Beat the Peak" program.

“Currently, 66% of the REMCs operating cost is for the wholesale power we purchase from Hoosier Energy.  If we all work together to help reduce the demand during peak times, we can reduce the REMC's power costs. Because Southeastern Indiana REMC is a not-for-profit utility, those savings are passed on to you in the form of affordable rates,” said REMC.

This is a voluntary program that benefits all member co-ops.

Peak demand periods occur when the demand for electricity is the highest weekdays June through August 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and December through February 7:00 to 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.

During peak periods, the co-op is charged a higher cost from the power supplier.

“If we can all work together to reduce the demand, we can reduce the REMC’s power cost and minimize increases you may receive on your bill,” said REMC.

If you would like to learn more on the “Beat the Peak” Program, members can text #BeatThePeak to 22300 to opt-in to receive text only alerts or subscribe to receive notifications via phone, email, and text.

It should be noted you will not see a credit on your bill for conserving energy nor will you be charged more for power if you do not conserve.
