Indiana Department of Transportation maintenance personnel plan to apply a chip seal surface treatment to State Road 156 next Wednesday and Thursday (JUNE 20 & 21)—weather permitting—on the 8½-miles section of scenic highway from S.R. 250 at Patriot to S.R. 56 south of Rising Sun. Flaggers will be onsite both days to direct motorists around INDOT operations.
This section of S.R. 156 is scheduled to be fog sealed on June 26 and 27.
Chip seals are a cost-effective way to protect pavement from moisture intrusion and ultra violet ray degradation. Small chips of limestone embedded in a liquid asphalt overcoat to reestablish surface friction for optimum stopping capabilities and improved maneuverability.
