Storm Sewer Installation To Close Main Street At New Washington

NEW WASHINGTON, Ind.—Excavation and installation of storm sewer pipe along Main Street will require a 5-day closure between Ohio and Center Streets beginning this Friday (MAY 4).  Work is part of the $1.2 million Local Public Agency (LPA) bicycle/ pedestrian way at New Washington sponsored by Clark County.   

 

Dave O’Mara, the project’s contractor, will construct the asphalt multiuse path along Main , Poplar and Center Streets and State Road 62 in widths of 30 to 40 feet.   

 

As LPA sponsor, Clark County is responsible for 20 percent of the project cost.  The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) is funding 80 percent.   

 

The Indiana Department of Transportation administers FHWA funding and oversees the project to assure compliance with federal standards.  Clark Dietz, an engineering consulting firm, is responsible for onsite supervision.
