Three Arrested Following Short Police Pursuit

A subsequent search of the vehicle was conducted, officers located methamphetamine and a syringe. 

(Madison, Ind.) - On Friday, September 4, Madison Police Officers Nicholson and Blankenship attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a black Ford fusion, in reference to a narcotics investigation.

The driver, later identified as Christopher Hoskins, failed to stop and leading officers on a short vehicle pursuit. The pursuit went from Kennedy Drive to Taft Drive where Hoskins and two passengers then fled the vehicle on foot.

Madison Police along with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department searched the area of the apartment complex for the suspects, where all three eventually located and taken into custody.

A subsequent search of the vehicle was conducted, officers located methamphetamine and a syringe. 

Arrested was Christopher Hoskins (Driver) 32 Milton, Ky. for possession of methamphetamine, possession of a syringe, and resisting law enforcement by fleeing.  Arthus Gabbard 64, (passenger) Westport, Indiana, charged with resisting law enforcement by fleeing.  Justyn Smallwood 21, (passenger) Madison, Indiana, charged with resisting law enforcement and criminal trespass. 

Officers Nicholson and Blankenship were assisted by MPD Officers Barnes, Demaree, Cutshaw, Harris, and Wallace.  JCSD Officers Flint and Finnegan. 

Hoskins, Gabbard, and Smallwood have the presumption of innocence until otherwise proven guilty.
