Traffic Stop Leads to another Drug Arrest

POSSESSION SCHEDULE I, II, III, OR IV CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE

On March 23, 2019, a traffic stop was conducted on Interstate 65 due to a traffic violation. The driver was identified as Michael R. Helton II, age 18, Seymour, Indiana. Deputy Joe Baker conducted an investigation that led him to call for assistance from Austin Police Department, Officer Scott McCoskey and K-9 Diablo. Officer McCoskey advised K-9 Diablo indicated to the presence of illegal narcotics on the right passenger side of the vehicle. A vehicle search was conducted as well as a search of Michael Helton II. Deputy Joe Baker located heroin and Helton was taken into custody.

 

 

On March 24, 2019, Sergeant James Ward responded to a loud noise complaint on State Road 203. Upon arrival, Sergeant Ward heard loud music coming from a pole barn and discovered multiple underage individuals drinking alcoholic beverages. Derek McNear, age 19, Scottsburg, was arrested for Illegal Possession, Consumption of Alcohol. Skylar Chism, age 18, New Albany, was arrested for Illegal Possession, Consumption of Alcohol. An additional minor was cited into court for Illegal Possession, Consumption of Alcohol.
