Two Bedford Ky Men Arrested After Traffic Stop

UPDATE: OFFICIALS HAVE AMENDED DOWN THE CHARGES FOR MICHAEL K FOX TO MISDEMEANORS ON POSSESSION OF HANDGUN AND POSSOSSION WITH THE CHARGES  STILL PENDING 

 

Friday Morning , at approximately 12:20 AM Madison Police Patrolman Josh Nolan executed a traffic stop at Second and Baltimore Streets.  The driver of the vehicle was identified as Michael K. Fox 51, Bedford, Kentucky.  

The stop was initiated due to an expired license plate.  A check of Fox's driving status found him to be operating without a valid license.  A passenger in Fox's vehicle was identified as Terry W. Helm 38, Bedford, Kentucky.

The subsequent investigation led to the discovery of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and a handgun in the vehicle in which Fox was driving.  Fox does not possess a valid handgun permit.  Fox and Helm were taken into custody without incident.    

Michael K. Fox, 51, faces preliminary alleged charges of L-5 felon in possession of a handgun, L-6 possession of methamphetamine, and "C" misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia.  Terry W. Helm faces preliminary alleged charges of L-6 possession of methamphetamine and "C" misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia.  Both Fox and Helm have the presumption of innocence until otherwise proven guilty.  

Officer Nolan was assisted by Patrolman Curtis Shelpman, Trent Smith and Jefferson County Sheriff Deputies Pickle, Gray and Wheeler.
