(Boone County, Ky.) - The Boone County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to the intersection of U.S. 42 and Beaver Road in Walton on Tuesday afternoon for a two-vehicle crash with extrication.

According to a press release, a dump truck crashed into the Boonedocks Bar & Grill located along U.S. 42. The collision resulted in two fatalities and one critical life-threatening injury from one vehicle and a minor injury from the other.

Roadway evidence and witness statements confirmed Rhonda Wright, 66, of Corinth, made a left turn from Beaver Road to northbound U.S. 42 and pulled into the travel path of a dump truck, driven by Jeffery Whaley, 66, of Independence.

Whaley attempted to brake and steer to the right to avoid the collision, but was unable to do so and struck Wright's vehicle. Wright's vehicle exited the roadway and struck four parked and unoccupied vehicles. The dump truck then struck the Boonedocks Bar & Grill, partially entering the building.

Wright sustained critical life-threatening injuries and was transported to University Hospital. Passengers Eva Mulberry, 91, of Williamstown, and Betty Hillard, 89, of Lexington, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Whaley sustained minor injuries.

No patrons inside the bar and grill were injured.

The Boone County Sheriff's Office says all drivers and occupants were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.

Speed and alcohol/drug impairment are not believed to be factors but will still be investigated.
