UPDATE: Suspect Found Following Threats at Seymour High School

The information obtained by investigators led them to an area in Suffolk County on Long Island New York.

(Seymour, Ind.) – On May 1, the Seymour Police Department was made aware of a threat that was made towards a Seymour High School student, and towards the school.

The threat was made via social media and quickly taken down.

Investigators with the Seymour Police Department obtained information from social media platforms and wireless carriers. The information obtained by investigators led them to an area in Suffolk County on Long Island New York.

With assistance from the Suffolk County Police, Investigators determined that the suspect was a 15-year-old juvenile. The juvenile admitted to Suffolk County Investigators that he picked the Seymour High School student and the school at random.

Suffolk County Investigators also conducted a search of the suspect’s home and no weapons were found.  The suspect told Suffolk County Investigators that he never intended to carry out the threat.

At no time, were any students in immediate danger based on the investigation.  The case will be forwarded to the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Officer for review of charges.
