Voluntary evacuation due to gas leak

766 W. Third Street in Madison

Construction workers were demolishing a vacant house at 766 W. Third Street yesterday around 3:40 when debris fell and broke the gas line.

Madison Fire Officials asked residents for a voluntary evacuation of the neighborhood up to 500 feet from the structure.

Parts of West Third, Cragmont and Presbyterian were closed till just before 6.
