Wallace, McKay Swearing in Ceremonies Tonight

The ceremony will take place at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall.

(Madison, Ind.) - It is a special night for the City Council tonight, as Chief John Wallace and Assistant Chief Ben McKay are being sworn into their roles with the Madison Police Department.

 Mayor Bob Courtney appointed Wallace and McKay to these positions on February 21, after receiving over 60 resumes from across the country for the position.

Wallace began his career in law enforcement in 1987 as a patrol officer and crime scene investigator for the City of Madison Police Department where he was then promoted to detective and captain and, in 2007, he was appointed chief.

McKay has served as interim police chief since January 20 and will resume his role as assistant chief.

McKay’s 15- year career in law enforcement with Madison Police Department and has earned the rank of major. He is the SWAT team commander and is trained in tactical leadership, water rescue, and fire and arson investigation.

Tonight, at City Hall is where these two men get to step into their positions. The ceremony will take place at 5:30 p.m.
