TRACK AND FIELD:

All four area schools competed in the IHSAA Track & Field Sectional at Jeffersonville on Thursday. There were no local champions, but 12 regional qualifiers.

TENNIS:

The Southwestern Lady Rebels traveled to Greensburg on Saturday for the third consecutive year to face Greensburg Pirates in the final. It was all Greensburg this time as they beat up on the Lady Rebels 5-0. They have five seniors in their top seven and they are solid and showed it on Saturday. I am extremely proud of our season after losing six of our top seven players from last years 19-3 team we managed a nice 16-6 record and won our third consecutive Southern Indian Conference title with virtually all new players except Syrenia.  She had a great senior season winning 13 matches at a tough one singles position, won the Paoli invite at one singles and played second at the Coving invite. She has certainly been a rock for us for the last three years. Super Frosh Emma Hatton and Ava Barnes have been fantastic with Emma winning 17 and Ava winning 19 matches in their first season for us. One doubles have been up and down for us all season but managed 12 wins and won a couple of big matches for us. Autumn has been with me for three years and will be missed by our team. Natalie now must step up and be a leader for us as a junior next season. Two doubles have had a fantastic season as well, with frosh Kaylee Hite and soph newcomer Raygan Crawford winning 19 matches for us this season. We are young and looking forward to the new sectional alignment starting next year that will send us to Scottsburg with Madison, Shawe and Austin. The future is certainly bright for us if the girls will take the time to work in the offseason.
