Hanover played their very first NCAA DIII Tournament game against the Purple Raiders in 1995 in Alliance, Ohio and fell 52-18.

The Panthers who claimed the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference title outright after going a perfect 7-0 in conference action, for the first time since the 2003 season, will be making their second consecutive playoff appearance. Prior to the 2018 season, the Panthers last appearance came in 2003.

Mount Union, who finished the season a perfect 10-0 overall, makes their 31st appearance in the NCAA playoffs.
