(Scottsburg, Ind.) - The Scott County Health Department announced on Sunday that additional cases of the novel coronavirus have been reported at The Waters of Scottsburg.

Indiana State Department of Health provided testing supplies to the facility on Wednesday, May 20. All staff and residents were tested within 24 hours of receiving the testing supplies.

There have been less than 10 employees and residents test positive in total.

The Waters of Scottsburg has notified patients and their families of the positive cases, and the positive employees are quarantined at their homes. The residents have been transferred to a separate facility that is housing positive COVID-19 patients.

The Waters of Scottsburg continues to partner with the Scott County Health Department and Indiana State Department of Health to further mitigate transmission of COVID-19 within the facility. The SCHD will continue to provide daily communications and support in the form of PPE, while ISDH will provide assistance with infection.

"It is uncomfortable that additional cases were found within the facility," said Dr. Kevin Rogers, Scott County Health Officer. "It is important to remember that novel coronavirus can be easily transmitted, even when symptoms are not yet present."
