Brandt Arrested For Aggravated Battery, False Informing

Brandt was an acquaintance of Burge at the time of the incident with the child. Brandt's charges stem from the injuries sustained by the infant.

(Madison, Ind.) - On Tuesday, May, 12 officers with the City of Madison Police Department arrested 25-year-old James J. Brandt, of Madison on a warrant for aggravated battery (Level 3 Felony), and false informing (Class A Misdemeanor). 

On April 24, the Madison Police conducted an investigation into a near fatal brain hemorrhage of a five month old infant. As a result of the initial investigation, Destany Jae Burge, 19, of Madison, who is the mother of the infant, was arrested for neglect of a dependent (Level 3 Felony), and false informing (Class A Misdemeanor). 

As a result of the ongoing investigation, led by Detective Ricky Harris and Kyle Cutshaw, a warrant was sought for Brandt's arrest.

Brandt was an acquaintance of Burge at the time of the incident with the child. Brandt's charges stem from the injuries sustained by the infant.

James J. Brandt Jr. was taken into custody without incident and is currently incarcerated at the Jefferson County Jail with a $50,000.00 cash bond.
