Students taken to hospital for evaluation

A Carroll County School District bus was in a minor accident Wednesday that interrupted a field trip. Five buses were transporting Cartmell Elementary students to the Taft Theater in Cincinnati when one bus was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Park and Highland Avenues in Carrollton, according to Sgt. Tim Gividen of the Carrollton Police Department.

Two ambulances from Carroll County Emergency Medical Services arrived on the scene, and all 48 students on the bus were transported by bus to Carroll County Memorial Hospital to be evaluated.

The other four buses continued the field trip.

“No students were seriously injured, but we want to remind everyone to exercise caution around our buses,” said Mark Willhoite, chief operations officer for the district. “Safety is our first priority, and we collaborate with law enforcement to ensure that motorists follow the rules of the road.”
