Closure planned on State Road 7 in Jennings County North of Dupont

Closure will be thru early June

JENNINGS COUNTY, Ind. – Indiana Department of Transportation contractor 5 Star Company Inc. is scheduled to close a portion of State Road 7 between Vernon and Dupont on or after Friday, May 1, to complete a box culvert replacement project.

The closure will take place just north of the Muscatatuck River located between County Road 300 South and County Road 500 South. S.R. 7 is expected to reopen in early June, weather permitting. During the closure, motorists should use the official detour route which follows S.R. 3 to S.R. 256 to S.R. 56/62 back to S.R. 7.

This project is part of a contract awarded to 5 Star in August 2025. INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, use extra caution, and avoid distractions when traveling in and near work zones. All work is weather dependent and schedules are subject to change.

About Buckle Up Phone Down
Buckle Up Phone Down is a safety initiative adopted by the Indiana Department of Transportation in late 2023. Unrestrained motorists and passengers, as well as distracted driving continue to be contributing factors in fatal and serious injury crashes on Indiana roadways. Buckle Up Phone Down is one of many efforts to change driver behavior and improve roadway safety across Indiana.

The actions are simple: when you get into a vehicle, buckle up. If you are the driver, put the phone down. Every trip. Every time. Learn more and accept the challenge at BUPDIN.com.
