Distrubance Lands Hanover Man Behind Bars

He is facing numerous charges

December 5, 2022, 9:10 AM Madison Police responded to the 800 block of East Street, reference a male subject creating a disturbance.  The male was reportedly swinging a hammer and crowbar.  

Sergeant Seth Melton and Patrolman Cody Lewis responded and located Jessie R. Atkins 34, Hanover, Indiana.  Atkins was found to be very agitated, and physically resisted officers as they attempted to secure him. 

Atkins was eventually taken into custody and charged with; resisting law enforcement class A misdemeanor, disorderly conduct class B misdemeanor, and possession of methamphetamine level 6 felony.  

Jessie Atkins was transported to the Jefferson County, Jail where he awaits his initial court appearance on the above stated initial charges.  Atkins has the presumption of innocence until otherwise proven guilty.
