Gov. Braun to Replace SNAP Benefits for Residents in Disaster Area Counties

SNAP replacement benefits will be added directly to eligible recipients’ EBT cards on or around September 26.

INDIANAPOLIS - Indiana Governor Mike Braun has taken action to replace SNAP benefits for residents in disaster area counties.

“Hoosiers impacted by these disasters deserve support without added hurdles. This streamlined assistance will help families replace lost SNAP benefits and give displaced Hoosiers more time and resources to recover," said Governor Braun.

This federally authorized waiver—secured at the Governor’s request—allows Indiana to automatically replace a portion of monthly SNAP benefits for recipients living in the designated ZIP codes within the affected counties listed below. The replacements were approved as follows based on the date SNAP recipients’ allotments were originally received prior to the storm:

  • August 5, 2026, through August 9, 2026: Replacement Percentage - 60%
  • July 19, 2026, through July 23, 2026: Replacement Percentage - 30%
  • July 11, 2026, through July 17, 2026: Replacement Percentage - 15%

SNAP replacement benefits will be added directly to eligible recipients’ EBT cards on or around September 26, 2026. Because Governor Braun prioritized a streamlined response, SNAP recipients do not need to complete paperwork, contact FSSA, or visit a local Division of Family Resources office. Eligible households will receive their replacement benefits automatically. If a household already received replacement benefits up to their maximum allotment, they will not receive any additional benefits.

The state estimates that approximately 36,533 households qualify for replacement SNAP benefits, representing up to $10 million in federal support. Households that have already applied for and received replacement benefits prior to the waiver approval are not eligible for additional replacement.
