(Madison, Ind.) – For the first time in its 40 year history, Ivy Tech Community College’s Madison campus will be offering a scholarship opportunity specifically for parents or legal guardians.

If your child is currently enrolled in Ivy Tech’s dual credit programs taught at one of the high schools served by the Madison campus: Christian Academy of Madison; Madison Consolidated High School, Shawe High School; Southeastern Career Center; Southwestern High School, and Switzerland County High School, then you are eligible for this scholarship.

In addition, if you are a parent or legal guardian of a student who is currently enrolled in a dual enrollment career pathway program taught on the Madison campus, this scholarship is available for you. Through the dual credit enrollment program, the Madison campus serves the schools mentioned above plus Trimble County High School in Kentucky.

“Ivy Tech Madison is pleased to offer this opportunity in response to the numerous requests from parents asking if they can also take advantage of the career exploration and degree programs in which their children are enrolled, said Molly Dodge, Chancellor. “Our funds are limited and this program is offered on a first-come basis, but our campus leadership felt, given the COVID situation, that many adults could benefit from a free, no strings opportunity to take a class this summer at Ivy Tech Madison.”

The Parents Welcome Too Scholarship will pay for one course and all associated fees for the upcoming summer term. Scholarship recipients will be responsible for the purchase of any textbooks.

"This scholarship is intended to serve as a gateway for our dual credit and dual enrollment parents who might want to pursue new educational opportunities or even a career change,” stated Dustin Stewart, Ivy Tech Madison’s Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Services and Student Success. “Ivy Tech Madison offers a variety of high demand degree programs in areas related to Industrial Technology, Medical Assisting and Nursing, Information Technology and Business Administration, just to name a few.”
