Honored the largest graduating class in the history of Madison’s Campus

Ivy Tech Community College Madison celebrated a historic milestone during its commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 9 at Belterra Casino Resort, honoring the largest graduating class in the history of Madison’s Campus. A total of 587 graduates earned degrees and credentials designed to help meet workforce needs across Indiana while opening new opportunities for students and their families.
This year’s graduating class reflected the many educational pathways available through Ivy Tech Madison. Among the graduates, 192 students earned the Indiana College Core Technical Certificate, allowing high school students to complete their first year of college credits with guaranteed transferability to any Indiana public university
“Our graduating class represents the future of Indiana’s workforce,” said Dr. Amanda Harsin, Ivy Tech Madison Chancellor. “Our graduates are leaving Ivy Tech with valuable skills, hands-on experience, and industry recognized credentials that will help strengthen the workforce throughout our region and across the state. We’re incredibly proud to work with so many amazing people.”
The ceremony also recognized Sue Livers with an honorary degree for her lifelong commitment to education, healthcare, and community service. A longtime advocate for expanding opportunity in the Madison area, Livers has dedicated decades to improving the lives of others through leadership, mentorship, and service.
Jeremiah Haynes, 2026 nursing graduate, reflected on the support systems that helped students reach graduation and encouraged his fellow classmates to use their experiences to positively impact others.
“We may not be self-made—but we have made it,” Haynes said during his commencement address. “Today marks the beginning of a new chapter for all of us, and each of us has the opportunity to leave the world better than we found it by investing in others.”
The commencement ceremony celebrated not only academic achievement, but also the perseverance and determination of students who balanced coursework alongside careers, families, and personal responsibilities. As graduates crossed the stage, they joined thousands of Ivy Tech alumni making an impact in their communities and workplaces throughout Indiana.
