Stolen Iowa Vehicle Leads to Local Arrest

February 21, 2023, @ approximately 1:46 AM Madison Police arrested Matthew A. Taylor 29, Lexington, Indiana. for auto theft L-6 felony.
Madison Police Officer Phillip Wimpee observed a vehicle, reported stolen out of Iowa, traveling Southbound on Wilson Avenue, from Hutchinson Lane. As Officer Wimpee turned on the vehicle, the driver, Matthew A. Taylor, abruptly turned into the Arvin Sango Lot and parked. Officer Wimpee executed a felony traffic stop on Taylor and took him into custody without incident. Taylor was transported to the Jefferson County Jail, without incident, after officers confirmed the stolen vehicle entry.
Matthew Taylor is currently being held on a $1,500.00 cash bond only. Taylor has the presumption of innocence until otherwise proven guilty.
