Local auctioneer arrested for theft

Cox has the presumption of innocence unless otherwise proven guilty in a court of law

                                          

On 07/20/2023, Kermit W. Cox was arrested after an investigation by the Madison Police Department. An investigation was initiated after three persons complained of selling items at a local auction service and not being paid for their items. Kermit W. Cox faces an initial charge of Theft, a Level 6 Felony. A source involved in the investigation indicated that there may be more victims who were not paid for items sold at auction. Any persons who sold items through Cox's auction service and did not receive payment are asked to contact Detective Ricky Harris of the Madison Police Department via email at rharris@madisonpd.com. Madison Police Department was assisted by the Scottsburg Police Department in this investigation. 

 

     All criminal charges are alleged, and Cox has the presumption of innocence unless otherwise proven guilty in a court of law
