Innocent until proven guilty

May 1, 2022, Madison Police arrest three on traffic stops for narcotic related charges.
- Timothy R. Nicholson, 40, Lexington, Indiana, was arrested for drug possession charges after narcotics were located in his vehicle. Madison Police Patrolman Graham Heffelfinger located drugs in Nicholson's vehicle after executing a traffic stop at Mulberry & Milton Streets. Timothy Nicholson faces preliminary alleged charges of possession of methamphetamine L-6 felony, possession of marijauna class A misdemeanor and possession of paraphernalia class C misdemeanor. Nicholson has the presumption of innocence until otherwise proven guilty.
- Montana D. Austin 31, Ghent, Kentucky, and Trisha M. Powell, 33, Hanover, Indiana, were arrested for drug possession charges following a traffic stop executed by Madison Police Patrolman Curtis Shelpman. Madison Police K-9 Meko and his handler, Patrolman Ben Flint, assisted. Meko alerted on the vehicle being driven by Austin, after conducting an open air sniff. During the subsequent search, officers located methamphetamine and paraphernalia. Both Austin and Powell face preliminary alleged charges of possession of methamphetamine L-6 felony and possession of paraphanailia class C misdemeanor. Austin and Powell have the presumption of innocence until otherwise proven guilty.
