Madison Police Department to Increase Traffic Enforcement in School Zones

The patrols will be during morning arrival and afternoon dismissial times

The Madison Police Department announced today that from April 17th to April 30th, they will be increasing traffic enforcement in school zones throughout the city.

The purpose of this effort is to ensure the safety of students, teachers, and parents during the busy morning and afternoon traffic.

The Madison Police Department recognizes the importance of safe driving in school zones and will be strictly enforcing all traffic laws, including speed limits, no passing, yielding to pedestrians, and stopping at all crosswalks.

Police Chief I. John Wallace believes that "our children's safety is our top priority, and by increasing our presence in school zones, we can help prevent accidents and ensure that everyone gets to and from school safely."

Drivers are reminded to be mindful of their driving habits when traveling through school zones and to leave earlier to allow for more time in congested areas. Parents who drive their children to school are encouraged to model safe driving behaviors for their children.

The Madison Police Department would like to thank residents for their patience and cooperation during this time.
