Man arrested in ongoing sexual predator net

Taken into custody without incident

November 6, 2022, Madison Police arrested Craig E. Newcomer 33, Clayton, Indiana, for child solicitation L-4 felony, attempted sexual misconduct with a minor L-4 felony & dissemination of materal harmful to a minor L-6 felony. Newcomer is the latest to be arrested in the Madison Police Department's ongoing sexual predator net.  

Craig Newcomer came to Madison to allegedly meet a fourteen year old female for the purposes of engaging in a sexual relationship.  Newcomer engaged in several online conversations with Madison Police Detective Shawn Scudder, detailing his explicit intentions, with what he thought was a fourteen year old female. 

At approximately 2:33 PM Craig Newcomer arrived at the predetermined location and was taken into custody without incident.  The subsequent search of Newcomer's vehicle, found him to be in possession of two firearms, duct tape, blankets, and an item assoscited with sexual activity. 

Detective Scudder was assisted by Madison Police Officers Cameron Blankenship, Nichole Midgett and Jeremey Perkins. Craig Newcomer has the presumption of innocence until otherwise proven guilty.
