MCHS Student Killed in Morning House Fire

MCHS Mourns the Loss of Student

Madison Consolidated Schools Superintendent

September 20, 2023

We are deeply saddened by the death of freshman MCHS student, Dulce Cristal Martinez-Ortiz from an early morning house fire. We have and will continue to provide additional counseling staff and grief support personnel at our high school, junior high school, and Anderson Elementary where students will be able to talk with adults as they try to understand and process their grief.

As a reminder, MJHS and MCHS students will have a scheduled eLearning day due to Parent/Teacher Conferences, tomorrow, Thursday, September 21. Counselors will be available in the MCHS Auditorium (Door 14) for any student who might need to talk with someone.

Please keep the Martinez-Ortiz family in your thoughts and prayers. Our community will need to continue to surround them with support. We want you to know that our staff and team of counselors and social workers are here to help you.

Please encourage your student to let a teacher know if he/she would like to speak to a counselor. We will do all we can to support your student during this very difficult time.
