New Procedures For Jennings County Courthouse

(Jennings County, Ind.) – Beginning Monday, May 18, the Jennings Circuit and Jennings Superior Courts will reopen for business.

The court will be proceeding as normal, except for jury trials, which will not continue until at least June 1.

Social distancing of at least six feet will be required for all spectators, and will also be required for witnesses, attorneys, and parties. However, there are many situations where social distancing is not workable, for instance, attorney conferences with clients, parties conferring with one another, and attorneys approaching a witness.

Those who wish to enter the Jennings County Courthouse must wear a mask, with the exceptions of when testifying. If you are feeling ill or have experienced COVID-19 symptoms in the preceding 14 days the court is asking you to please stay home.

The Courthouse Security Officer and the Judges reserve the right to refuse access to the courthouse or courtrooms, if they believe access poses a threat to public health or safety.

“Access to the courthouse is vital. The cooperation of the public is vital, in these uncertain times, fi open access to the Court is to be maintained,” stated the Courthouse.
