(North Vernon, Ind.) - A police pursuit ensued on Tuesday morning following a report of a domestic disturbance at a home in North Vernon.
Officers were dispatched to a home on Gilbert Street and while en route, a male subject left the scene in a Mercury Mariner SUV.
North Vernon Police were informed that Robert Evans, 34, was driving the vehicle, which belonged to his wife's friend.
Evans was located turning off Norris Avenue to W. Walnut Street when officers activated their emergency lights and sirens in attempt to initiate a traffic stop. Evans allegedly refused to stop and continued traveling down multiple streets in an attempt to evade.
He eventually slid of the roadway into a snow covered grass median at the area of Platter Drive and Norris Avenue. After further investigation, officers found that Evans traveled through multiple yards causing property damage.
Evans was transported to the Jennings County Jail. He is charged with Resisting Law Enforcement in a Vehicle (Level 6 Felony), Resisting Law Enforcement (Class A Misdemeanor), Theft of a Vehicle (Level 6 Felony), Domestic Battery (Level 6 Felony), Driving while Suspended w/ Prior (Class A Misdemeanor), Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated (Class A Misdemeanor) and Criminal Mischief (Class B Misdemeanor).
