NWS Confirms Tornado Hit Ohio County on Tuesday

There have been four confirmed tornadoes from Tuesday's storms.

(Ohio County, Ind.) – The National Weather Service in Wilmington has confirmed a tornado in Ohio County on Tuesday afternoon.

The tornado has been classified as an EF1.

According to the NWS, the tornado developed near the Ohio and Switzerland county intersection just north of Knigga Road, and moved northeast as it crossed Aberdeen Road.

A garage was destroyed on the north side of Knigga Road, and a well-constructed barn on Aberdeen Road was completely destroyed.

The tornado continued east through wooded and inaccessible areas, crossing Bear Branch Creek, Texas Gas Road, and then dissipating near Milton Bear Branch Road, where trees were uprooted.

Maximum wind speed along the path was estimated to be around 100 miles per hour at the destroyed barn on Aberdeen Road.

The estimated duration was from 5:52 to 5:57 p.m., covering 3.4 miles.

No injuries or fatalities were reported.
